Student Opportunities at ILA

Student Case Competition ILA Intern Students at an ILA Global Conference Alain de Sales and Jean Lipman-Blumen

ILA Intern Opportunities: ILA offers both paid and unpaid internships throughout the year. ILA's internship program is a terrific opportunity for those studying or interested in leadership, non-profits, marketing, communications, event planning, market research, web design, social media strategy, and data analytics. Annual Global Conferences: At ILA's global conferences nearly 1,000 attendees – of leadership scholars, practitioners, educators, program directors, consultants, students, and other leaders and leadership professionals share and explore the latest in leadership thinking, research and practice. The conferences include over 200 high-quality concurrent sessions, thought-provoking keynote speakers, an ongoing exhibit hall, and an Author Meet and Greet reception.

The ILA Student Case Competition provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to compete and showcase their knowledge about leadership through the analysis of a contemporary socio-political-economic problem on the global or national level. Teams compete in two divisions, undergraduate and graduate. The top three teams in each division are recognized at the closing plenary of the ILA conference. The team in each division that takes top honors receives complimentary 1-year memberships in the ILA and a $1,000 cash prize to divide among team members.

Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award: The ILA is pleased to partner with the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond on the Fredric M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award. This award is given annually to a scholar whose doctoral dissertation research, while on any topic and from any discipline, demonstrates substantial insights and implications for the study of leadership. The award was established to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Fredric M. Jablin (1952-2004).

The Kenneth E. Clark Student Research Award: ILA and the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) partner to sponsor the annual Kenneth E. Clark Student Research Award to recognize outstanding unpublished papers by undergraduate and graduate students. The award is named in honor of the distinguished scholar and former Chief Executive Officer of the Center. The winner of the award will receive a cash prize; one-year membership in the ILA; registration, travel and lodging at the ILA global conference; and recognition at the ILA conference and in various multi-media ILA publications.

Emerging Scholars Research Consortium Display Poster (for graduate students and junior scholars): A visual display (poster) of current research set up and staffed by the creator, presented to an invitation-only group of seasoned senior scholars during the Emerging Scholars Research Consortium (ESRC) session at the ILA annual global conferences. Accepted participants are invited to publicly present their posters during Saturday evening's hosted poster session. Accepted participants will be matched by research interest with a seasoned scholar prior to the conference and will engage in meaningful dialogue and receive valuable feedback and advice.
